Children love watching seeds germinate. This is particularly true when seeds are sprouting quickly. Alfalfa ( Medicago sativa) is an easy to cultivate seed which should begin to sprout within a week. Sprinkle a small quantity of alfalfa seeds on a wet paper towel to watch their seeds sprout and grow.

You Will Need:
Alfalfa seeds are in a package (about 1.5g)
a small plate or saucer
Three paper towels
a spray mister or small water Jug

How to Grow:
Place 3 sheets of paper towel on a dish.
Drain the water from the plate. The paper towel should be moist, but the seeds should not be floating in water.
Spread the seeds out evenly on the towel.
Place on a sunny windowsill and then add water to prevent the paper towel from drying out. To moisten seeds, make use of a spray bottle, or mister to do so. Also, add water to the saucer by using an ice cube or small jug.
Check your seeds every day to see how they're growing.

Troubleshooting
Alfalfa is an easy to grow seed that should be able to germinate in between 2 and 6 days. Here are a few things to keep an eye on if your seeds don't germinate in this time.

Too dry: Seeds require water in order to develop. Alfalfa seeds absorb around their own weight in water before getting germinated, بذور كزبره making them appear like they are swollen. If your seeds are too dry they will not sprout. Incorporate more water into the plate until the seeds are damp but not floating. You can also soak your seeds for a few hours. Be sure to remove them and wash them thoroughly prior to transferring them onto a paper towel.

Too moistIf the seeds are too moist, بذور كزبره the new roots and sprouts could begin to rot before they've had a chance to grow. The seeds can also become moldy. While it's okay for the paper towel as well as the seeds to remain damp, they shouldn't be submerged in water. Drain excess water from the plate each time you mist or water your seeds.

Too cold or hot Alfalfa grows best at 20-25°C. If you're growing your seed indoors in winter, place them in a warm area. You may need to water your seeds more frequently if you grow them in very hot temperatures. They'll dry faster.
