You Can Grow Your Own Alfalfa Seeds

Children enjoy watching seeds germinate. This is especially the case when seeds sprout quickly. Alfalfa ( Medicago Sativa) is a very easy to grow seed that can grow in about a week. Sprinkle a small quantity of alfalfa seeds on a wet newspaper towel and watch it grow and germinate.

What you'll need
a packet of alfalfa seeds (about 1.5g)
A small saucer or plate
Three paper towels
A small spray mister or water container


How to grow:
Take 3 pieces of paper towel, then put them on top of one another flat on a platter.
Then , drain the water from the plate. The paper towel should be dampened, but seeds shouldn't be floating on water.
Sprinkle the seeds thickly onto the paper towel.
To prevent the paper towel from drying out, place it on a sunny windowill covered with water. It is possible to use a mister or spray bottle to moisten the seeds or add a tiny amount of water to the saucer by using a small jug or cup.
Every day, check your seeds to observe how they're growing.


Troubleshooting
Alfalfa can be a very easy to cultivate seed that can be able to germinate in between 2 and 6 days. Here are some issues to look out for when your seeds fail to germinate within this period.

Too dry: Seeds require water in order to grow. Seeds of alfalfa absorb approximately 50% of their weight in water before they begin to germinate, making them appear to be swelling. If your seeds are too dry, they will not germinate. You can add more water to the plate so the seeds are moist but not floating on the surface. You could also soak your seeds overnight; just be sure to drain and rinse them off with fresh water before spreading them on the paper towel.

Too moist Seeds that are too humid may cause their roots and sprouts to decay before they are able to grow. Also, it is possible that mould may begin to grow on the seeds. While it's okay to allow the paper towel and seeds to be damp however they shouldn't be submerged in water. Every time you mist or water seeds, remove any excess water.

Too cold or hot: Alfalfa thrives at 20-25°C. If you're cultivating your seeds in winter, put them in a warm location indoors. If you're cultivating your seeds in very warm temperatures, بذور برسيم مصري you might need to water your seeds more often because they'll dry faster.
