Path of Exile item upgrading Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the performance of the Best item upgrade they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require a fee to use, which are indicated by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are constantly updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give a significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.

Upgrading a piece of armor to max upgrade level will greatly increase its defense capabilities but the wearer must be aware that putting on weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your weapon and equipment sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear that has low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a higher chance of giving you the most prestigious tier of blessings and perks.

The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they most often use to make sure they are able to level up quicker. In addition to these players, they should think about upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when used with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a gem can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones that you must attain certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel once in an item of equipment.

It is normal to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, are not swappable, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide a wide range of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. You can find them in the start-up area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through completing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket players can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player can then acquire rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the lack of a excellent slots in the team or talent tree that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.

In general trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace in the near future. Next, any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item upgrader Kit has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, finishing the main quest for a chapter or beating the boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
