World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an item level upgrade up to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like a perfectly made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Many weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a single unit. This bonus can sometimes exceed the damage a weapon upgrade alone can do.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things unusable, unless you are extremely lucky.

Armor items can be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. For instance, if you have a helm or chest, it will boost the defense of its base, while gloves and belts will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it could roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will get when upgraded and their relative values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button in the item upgrades menu, using the arrows that circle. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.

Armor

Making a few improvements to your armor can make a huge difference in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense you can offer your character, the greater health you'll get from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them, and each requires you to complete a unique side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees needed for each level will differ. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for instance can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to remain competitive in frigid environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you can survive a raid with your comrades.

You can't upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. In general, you should save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have some improvements to the helmets and chest armor that permit you to sneak past some monsters.

Potions

Potions are bottled substances that, if consumed, give the player a temporary status effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in the Alchemist's chest. However, the upgrade price changes depending on what type of potion you'd like to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.

To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that lets you select the potions that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll provide when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP count.

Once a potion is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade until you make use of it again or break the bottle in the container it is kept. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change the name of the potion.

There were a few updates to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For instance splash potions now have a duration of 0:08 (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds shown on the item level upgrade hover display). The table for potion is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio in a cauldron that is full drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.

Finally, there are lingering potions that are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effect. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping and the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that serves a function but is not important, like a Thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is a way to show affection or friendship between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons or armor, as well as potions. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets, unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be swapped at will without losing stats.

Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to purchasing a new trinket. It is possible to upgrade players for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base level as the old trinket but it also comes with an additional 1% bonus upgrade item.

Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are a popular alternative to gold.

Players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other items of gear will not be replaced in the near future (for example, a ring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade, players should also take into account the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.

After they've become unusable, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1% bonus. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it can be saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, but is still cheaper than buying the new one.
