Grow Your Own Alfalfa Seeds
Watching seeds sprout is a fantastic activity for kids especially when they grow quickly. Alfalfa ( Medicago sativa) is a simple to cultivate seed which should sprout in around a week. Sprinkle a tiny amount of alfalfa seeds over a damp newspaper towel and watch their seeds sprout and grow.
You'll need:
A package of Alfalfa seed (about 1.5g).
A small dish or saucer
Three paper towels
A small spray mister or water Jug
How to grow:
Lay 3 sheets of towel on a dish.
After that, you should drain the water off the plate. The paper towel should be damp, but the seeds shouldn't sit in the water.
Sprinkle the seeds evenly on the towel.
Set it on a sunny window with water to stop the towel from drying. You can use a mister or بذور برسيم حجازي للبيع spray bottle to dampen the seeds or you can add a small amount of water to the saucer with either a small cup or jug.
Everyday, you should check your seeds to see how they're growing.
Troubleshooting
Alfalfa seeds are easy to plant and should sprout within 2 to 6 days. If the seeds fail to germinate within this time frame, here are a few possible reasons why things went wrong:
Too dry: Seeds require water in order to grow. Alfalfa seeds absorb about half their weight in water before they germinate. This makes them appear swollen. Seeds that are not moist enough are not able to germinate. Make sure to add more water to your plate to make sure that the seeds are moist, but not floating. It is also possible to soak your seeds overnight; just ensure that you drain and wash them in fresh water before spreading them onto the towel.
Too wet:If the seeds are moist, the new roots and shoots could rot before they are able to develop. Seeds can also turn mouldy. Although it's fine for the paper towel as well as the seeds to be damp but they shouldn't submerge in water. Drain excess water from the tray each when you water or mist your seeds.
Too cold or بذور برسيم حجازي للبيع too hot: Alfalfa grows best at 20-25°C. If you are growing your seeds in winter, place them in a cool place indoors. If you're cultivating your seeds in extremely warm temperatures, you might need to water them more often as they will dry out quicker.
